Trusted with film rolls for 45+ years.
Colo has been printing, developing and preserving Mumbai's memories since 1979 โ long before smartphones ate the film camera. The people, the process and the reflex to protect every frame have all been passed down inside one family business. When you hand us your roll, you're handing it to a lab that has already processed millions before it.
What exactly is roll developing?
Roll developing (also called film roll processing) is what turns the invisible latent image inside your film canister into a proper negative you can hold, scan and print from. Without developing, your shots simply don't exist yet.
At Colo, every film roll is processed through a professional Noritsu auto processing machine โ the same standard used by top labs worldwide. It's fully automated: the machine controls temperature, timing, agitation and chemistry replenishment down to the decimal, so every roll gets the exact same, calibrated development. No hand-mixing. No eyeballing. No mystery.
Whether it's a Kodak Gold shot on a Sunday walk, a wedding roll from your grandad's old Yashica, or twenty canisters piling up in your fridge from that Europe trip โ we treat every film roll like it's the last one you shot. Because in a world where film is scarce and rolls are precious, that's exactly what it is.
Developed on a real Noritsu.
Almost every other lab in India still hand-processes film in tanks. It's slower, less consistent, and one careless step can ruin an irreplaceable roll. Colo is one of only a handful of labs in the country running a genuine Noritsu auto processing machine โ the gold standard for film roll developing since 1976.
Here's what that actually means for your roll:
- Fully automatic C-41 processingYour film travels through the machine on a controlled transport, hitting each chemical bath at the exact right time โ no human hands touching the emulsion.
- Temperature-locked chemistryDeveloper, bleach, fix and stabiliser are all held to within ยฑ0.3ยฐC. That's what makes Portra look like Portra and Gold look like Gold.
- Auto chemistry replenishmentThe Noritsu tops up its own chemicals per roll. Your roll never gets "tired" chemistry โ every batch is as fresh as the first of the day.
- Consistent, repeatable resultsBecause the machine, not a person, runs the process, your 10th roll looks exactly like your 1st. Perfect for photographers who need matching scans across sessions.
- Genuine Noritsu spares & serviceWe're on the official service network. Our machine gets calibrated and maintained the way Noritsu intends โ not with jugaad parts.
- 1-hour delivery, no extra chargeBecause it's automated end-to-end, we can hand your roll back within about 60 minutes of drop-off. There is no "rush fee." Speed is the default.
Auto processing labs in all of India.
Most Indian labs still hand-develop rolls in open tanks. Colo runs a proper industrial Noritsu โ one of a small handful of auto processing setups in the country, and one of the very few in Mumbai.
Hand-processing can be brilliant โ or a disaster. Auto processing is boringly consistent. If your roll is a one-shot wedding, a travel diary or a client job, boring consistency is exactly what you want.
The film lab your rolls deserve.
There are cheaper places. There are (barely) faster places. But if you want your negatives to come back the way you remember shooting them โ this is where film roll developing in Mumbai should be going.
45+ years of trust
Colo has been developing rolls in Mumbai since 1979. Four decades of hands, eyes and reflexes trained on nothing but film.
1-hour delivery, no extra charge

Films we develop.
Most of what you shoot in India today is C-41 colour negative โ and that's exactly what our 1-hour roll developing service covers. Bring in the popular stocks below and you're good to go.
Shooting B&W, slide film (E-6), medium format (120), or a respooled cine stock (ECN-2)? Give us a call first on 75063 50129 โ we'll advise on timing and pricing before you drop off.
Every roll comes home with a printed memory.
There's something a phone can't do. It can't be held. It can't sit on your parent's shelf. It can't slip out of an old book five years from now and stop you in your tracks.
Your favourite frame from the roll, printed on a proper 5x7" glossy โ free with every film roll developing order. Because a scan lives in your Drive. A print lives in your life.

Film roll developing โ your questions, answered.
How long does film roll developing actually take?
For standard C-41 colour negative rolls dropped off in-store, our target is 1 hour from the moment we start processing. And that's the flat price โ there is no extra "rush" or "same-day" charge. Speed is just how we work.
On a busy Saturday with a queue ahead of you, it may take up to 2 hours โ we'll always tell you the honest ETA at the counter. Rolls sent by courier from outside Mumbai are typically processed and shipped back the same or next working day after we receive them.
What machine do you use for developing?
We use a professional Noritsu auto processing machine โ the world standard for film roll processing since 1976. It's fully automated: your film moves through each C-41 chemical bath on a controlled transport, with the chemistry temperature locked to within ยฑ0.3ยฐC.
Colo is one of only a small handful of labs in India with an auto processing setup like this. Most Indian labs still hand-develop in open tanks, which is slower and less consistent. On a Noritsu, your 1st roll and your 100th roll come out looking identical.
How long has Colo been in the film business?
Since 1979 โ that's over 45 years of film roll developing, printing and photo services in Mumbai. Colo started when film was the only game in town, survived the digital wave, and is still one of the only labs in the city that treats film with the care it deserves.
What that means for you: institutional memory, hands trained on millions of rolls, and a lab that's not going to disappear on you next quarter.
I'm looking for "film roll developing near me" in Mumbai โ do you deliver?
Yes. If you're anywhere in south or central Mumbai โ Prabhadevi, Worli, Lower Parel, Dadar, Bandra, Colaba, Fort โ WhatsApp us on 75063 50129 and we'll arrange pickup and drop-off for your roll. Perfect if you searched "film roll developing near me" or "film processing near me" and don't feel like going anywhere.
Outside Mumbai? Ship your rolls to us by courier โ customers from Pune, Bangalore, Delhi and pan-India do it every week. Message us before shipping so we can look out for the parcel.
What kind of film do you develop?
Our 1-hour service covers all standard C-41 colour negative rolls โ Kodak Gold, ColorPlus, Portra, Ultramax, Fujifilm C200/400, Superia, Lomography 400, and any other C-41 film in 35mm format.
For black & white, slide (E-6), medium format 120, or respooled cine film (ECN-2), we do accept them โ but turnaround and pricing differ. Please call ahead before dropping off.
How much does film roll developing cost at Colo?
Because film prices and processing costs move around a bit, we don't lock in a single number on the website โ but our walk-in developing package (Noritsu auto processing + free 5x7" print + free scanning + 1-hour delivery) is deliberately kept competitive with, and usually below, other Mumbai labs. There is no extra charge for the 1-hour turnaround.
Call 75063 50129 or WhatsApp us with a photo of your roll and we'll quote the exact price in seconds.
What are "free scans"? What resolution do I get?
Every developed roll includes a complimentary digital soft copy of every frame โ perfect for sharing on Instagram, printing later, or simply backing up. We deliver them by WhatsApp, Google Drive link, or on a pen-drive (bring one, or buy one at the counter).
Need higher-resolution TIFF scans for editing or big prints? We offer premium scanning as a paid upgrade โ ask at the counter.
Do I get my negatives back?
Yes, always. Your original negatives are cleanly cut into strips, placed in an archival sleeve, and returned with your order. They're yours โ keep them safely and you can re-print from them any time in the future.
Is it safe to develop old / expired film here?
Yes โ over 45 years we've developed rolls that were sitting in fridges (and shoeboxes) for 5, 10, even 30+ years. Older film may show shifted colours, extra grain or a hazy base, which is often part of its charm. Tell us the approximate age when you drop off; we may recommend a small push-process for very old rolls to bring back detail.
The photo on my roll is really important. Can you handle wedding / family rolls?
Every roll is important to someone, and that's the mindset we've worked with for four decades. If you're bringing in a wedding roll, a shot-once-in-a-lifetime family event, or a professional job โ mention it at the counter. We'll process it in fresh chemistry and do an additional quality-check on the scans before handing it back.
Do you also do enlargements, frames or photo albums from the roll?
Yes โ Colo is a full personalised-photo brand. Once your roll is scanned, you can order enlargements, canvas prints, photo frames, magnets, mugs, and full photo albums directly from us. Ask at the counter or explore our collections.
What if a frame or the whole roll comes out blank?
Blank frames almost always come from the camera side โ lens cap on, shutter not tripped, film not advancing, or the roll was never actually exposed. We inspect every roll during processing and will show you exactly what we developed. If we ever make a lab-side error, we'll own it and make it right.
Ready to develop that roll?
Give us a ring or drop a WhatsApp โ we'll confirm timing on the spot and, if you're in south or central Mumbai, arrange pickup for your film roll. One call, one hour, one memory back in your hands.
Your rolls are already sitting in a drawer.
Bring them by this week. Noritsu-processed, printed and scanned in an hour โ no rush fee, no upsell.
